Hidden River Cave
is an 8-mile labyrinth
dissolved by a subterranean
river flowing beneath the
historic small town of Horse
Cave. In 1867, famed
naturalist John Muir called
it "a noble
gateway to the birthplace of springs and fountains and the dark
treasures of the mineral
kingdom." |

Guided tours descend 150 feet underground and last 45 - 50
minutes. |
The
Hidden River Cave Adventure
Tour
takes you off trail in an
extreme option that involves
strenuous hiking through
muddy and wet cave passages
and features an underground
stream, domed rooms, and
cave adapted animals.
Reservations are required
for the 2-hour or 3-hour.

Closed for more than 50
years,
Cub Run Cave
reopened
to the public in 2006. With
new elevated wooden walkways
and modern lighting,
Cub Run Cave is one of the
region's newest attractions.

Located 15 miles west of
Munfordville I-65 Exit 65,
this cave has some of the
world's most beautiful and
unusual formations. The 1
1/2 hour guided tour
includes historic and
geological interpretation of
unique formations. Some cave
animals may be present. The
tour is on elevated wooden
walkways with only a few
steps. |

One of the nation's most beautiful show caves,
Kentucky Caverns
is located at Kentucky Down
Under. Kentucky Caverns is
an active cave: when it
rains, the water drips down
through the ground and into
the cave continually
creating new formations.
You'll see stalactites,
stalagmites, cave popcorn,
cave cauliflower and more on
the 45-minute 1/4 mile
guided tour. |

include camping, fishing,
swimming, caving, and/or

Johnson Springs to Munfordville (4miles/3hours):
On their most popular ½ day trip you can
choose to picnic at Green River Park &
Arboretum in Munfordville at the end of
your trip or try the optional walking
trail between JS and Munfordville if you
prefer walking to paddling.
Rio to Johnson Springs (8miles/4 hours):
This is a nice laid-back canoe or kayak
trip or good fishing trip with lots of
history.Daniel Boone's son is buried in
Johnson Springs, and Civil War
enthusiasts will love paddling past
General Buckner's farm.
Rio
to Munfordville (12 miles/6 hours): Combine the 2 trips above.
Lynn Camp to Munfordville (24 miles/12 hours):
This is their most popular camping trip
with a nice secluded gravel bar to camp.
You'll pass the famous 300 Springs
waterfalls (local folks and people from
across the
U.S. come
just to see 300 Springs). Or shorten
the trip to Lynn Camp to end at Rio, a
good day trip (6 hours) if you don't
want to camp.
Munfordville to Dennison's Ferry (21 miles/12 hours):
Camping Trip. Always a nice trip to be
able to go to Mammoth Cave National
Park. Bluffs get tall down toward cave;
the river narrows some;and there is good
fishing (no license required in the
park).
Munfordville to
Green River Ferry (29 miles/15 hours): This camping trip also goes through
Mammoth Cave National Park. It is a more
populated river trip with a couple of
caves on the side of the river, past
famous Green River Ferry.
Hiking:

Green River Park & Arboretum
in Munfordville features
native trees and plants,
with interpretive exhibits and educational displays. The park also
offers covered picnic
pavilions, a children's
playground, and primitive
camping.
Green River Park Trail: This is a 3/4 mile riverview chip/seal
trail around the park and
arboretum.
Jenny Wilson Burd Memorial Trail:
This moderately strenuous
4.5 mile (one way) trail
along banks of the Green
River goes from the park to
Johnson Springs. As an
option, you can contact Big
Buffalo Crossing Canoe to
rent a canoe for your return
trip. |
