Hidden River Cave, the
largest privately operated cave in Kentucky,
is located right on Main Street in historic
downtown Horse Cave. Hidden River Cave has
been featured on the Discovery Channel’s
Dirty Job series. |

A tour of
Hidden River Cave takes you into one of the
state’s most scenic cave entrances to a
subterranean river flowing 100 feet below
ground. You can take a leisurely tour or get
“down and dirty” on the their “Adventure
Tour.” Adjacent to the cave is the American
Cave Museum, honored by The Nature
Conservancy Magazine as “a little bit of
Smithsonian in rural Kentucky”. You’ll enjoy
their state-of –the-art exhibits of the
cave’s bats, blindfish and other cave
animals; prehistoric and modern cave
explorers; the history of cave country; and
the “cave wars”. |

accessible on KY 88, 20 miles west of
Munfordville. Three marinas offer cabin,
pontoon and boat rentals. Nolin Lake State
Park is a new 333 acre park featuring a
beach, ramp, picnic area, cottages and
primitive camping. |

The historic Chapline Building in downtown Munfordville
houses the Hart County Historical Society's extensive
collection of historic objects, images, books, maps and
papers relating to the history of Hart County. |

Since the destruction of the county
courthouse by fire in 1928, the Historical
Museum has become the main source for
information about the early denizens of the
county. In addition to the Museum, the Chapline Building is also a
repository for genealogical research. Stroll into the
past on the Battle for the Bridge’s interpretive trails
that detail the 1862 Civil War battle for control of the
