If you’re looking for a real adventure with your grandchildren in America’s heartland, get “down & dirty” in Hart County Kentucky. Go “down under” at Kentucky Down Under, an interactive Australian-themed animal park where you can get up close and personal with kangaroos, emus and lorikeets; feed baby lambs; milk a cow; and learn to throw a boomerang and play a didgeridoo.

Day 1

Kentucky Down Under

Day 2

Hidden River Cave

  • Get “down & dirty” off the trail on the Adventure Tour where Mike Rowe filmed a segment of Dirty Jobs for the Discovery Channel. (Age 12+. Please make advance reservations for Adventure Tour.) OR
     
  • Learn about cave animals at the interactive exhibits at the American Cave Museum and go way “down” on a much tamer 1-hour guided tour of Hidden River Cave (All ages).
     
  • Grab lunch, pick up a souvenir, and create a scrapbook page of your adventure in the historic “down"town Historic Arts & Shopping District.

Day 3

Big Buffalo Crossing Canoe & Kayak

  • Take a picnic lunch “down” to the Green River Park & Arboretum, and don’t forget a photo with the buffalo at Big Buffalo Crossing!
     
  • Get a soft drink and souvenir at the Munfordville Welcome Center and take a walk back in time on the Historic Walking Tour in “down"town Munfordville.
