Hours: Open Daily from 9AM to 5PM Central. Extended hours from Memorial Day through Labor Day until 7PM. Guided cave tours leave hourly from the museum

Located right on Main Street in the middle of Horse Cave’s Historic Downtown Arts & Shopping District, the scenic entrance to Hidden River Cave is the region’s greatest photo op. Your guided tour follows the path of a subterranean river that flows beneath the town. An optional off-trail Adventure Tour, featured by Mike Rowe on The Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” series, offers a close-up look at the wonders of the underground ecosystem. The recovery of Hidden River Cave from pollution has been called the world’s best cave restoration. 

The adjacent American Cave Museum has been honored by the Nature Conservancy Magazine as “a little bit of Smithsonian in rural Kentucky.” Exhibits in this state-of-the-art showcase of underground and natural history include: bats, blind fish, cave animals, prehistoric and modern cave explorers, saltpeter mining, groundwater science and cave geology and more!
